Description

The RTA provided assistance to the Village of University Park with identifying a financial strategy to implement the recommendations contained in their newly completed TOD Plan. The RTA assisted the Village with analyzing the plan recommendations, reviewing funding and financing options to spur investment, and recommended a financial strategy that will position the Village for future development at the University Park Metra station.

Current Activities

The Final Report was delivered to the Village and Steering Committee in April, 2025. The project is complete.

Description

This project funded Phase I engineering necessary for future sidewalk network improvements that will provide access from residential neighborhoods south of St. Charles Road to Pace Bus Route 313. Engineering was completed for sidewalk gaps along Lee Boulevard, Morris Avenue, Rohde Avenue, Spencer Avenue, and Jerele Boulevard.

Current Activities

Phase I engineering activities are complete and the RTA awarded Phase II and Construction funding in late 2023.

Description

This project will construct bicycle facilities along 124th Street to better facilitate safe access between bus transit services along Halsted Street to the Ashland Metra station at Ashland Avenue. Additional improvements include completing a sidewalk gap on 124th Street between Laflin and Bishop Streets and pedestrian improvements to the intersection of 124th Street and Laflin Street.

Phase I engineering is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Description

The RTA provided assistance to the Village in soliciting guidance and advice from development experts through a half-day discussion panel. This panel discussed the development climate and potential strategies to prepare for and attract development to specific parcels near the Cary Metra station. The Final Report can be found under Related Reports.

RTA staff developed the final report in 2022 and will continue to monitor for implementation of recommendations.

Description

The RTA convened a half-day Developer Discussion Panel in July 2022 to solicit guidance and advice from development experts regarding a collection of Town-owned parcels near the Cicero Metra station on the UP-West line. This panel discussed the development climate and potential strategies to prepare for, and attract development to, these parcels.

Current Activities

The Developer Discussion Panel was held in Cicero on July 19. The report of recommendations was published in October 2022 and is available under "Related Reports."

Description

This project provides transportation services to more than 6,000 seniors and individuals with disabilities. Clients are transported to work, school, day programs, medical appointments, community recreation, and other activities. This is an existing Section 5310 operating funded project.

The Clearbrook Community Connections for Adults project is in progress and ongoing. The ridership in the most recent quarter was 59,876.

Description

his project will install tactile signs at all bus stop poles where CTA public information signs are currently posted to provide information about the exact bus stop location to customers who are blind or have visual or cognitive disabilities. Tactile Signage encourages individuals who currently rely on paratransit services to use fixed-route transit, even for trips where fixed-route service may have been available and at greater service span, frequency, and lower cost to operate than paratransit service.

The CTA Tactile Signage project is in progress. Construction of the tactile signs has been partially completed.
